October Book Club

The book club is meeting on the 29th October this month at 10.30am and 6.30pm in the library meeting room.
The day session will be discussing Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup and the evening Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence.
We are now taking suggestions for titles to read for next year, the more suggestions the better. If you would like some ideas on what sort of titles are available please click on this link.
Also don't forget on the 15th October Campbelltown Library Talking Heads program will be presenting local poet Norm Newlin. Bookings are essential.
Next month we will be meeting on the 26th November for the penultimate book club for the year.

September Book Club

The book club meets this month on the 24th of September at 10.30am and 6.30pm We Need To Talk about Kevin and the Exile are the current titles.

Next months titles are Sons and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence and Six Suspects by Vikas Swarup

Can I just take this opportunity to remind everyone to bring there books with them on the day if they have not already returned them so we can provide everybody with a copy of the book, thanks.

Also our Talking Heads program is presenting indigenous poet Norm Nelin on the 15th of October at 6.30pm. Norm will be reading from his work of poems and stories. If you would like to make a booking please contact the library on 46454444.

Current Reading

This month the evening session of the book club are reading Exile by Richard North Patterson "the story of a trial lawyer who must defend the woman he loves against a charge of conspiring to assassinate the Prime Minister of Israel". The day session are reading Lionel Shrivers' We Need to Talk About Kevin, which was the winner of the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2005.
Some of our upcoming titles include Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence and The Ninth Life of Louis Drax by Liz Jensen.
Don't forget each session of the Book Club meets on the last Wednesday of each month. (The next meeting will be held on the 27th of August)
Also if you have any feedback or suggestions for upcoming books you would like the group to read it can be left on the blog.

Upcoming Titles

The day session of the Book Club is now up and running, welcome to all the new members, with the first session very well attended. This month the day session are reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy and the night session Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones.
Our next meeting will be on the 28th of May, 10.30 am for the day session and 6.30 pm for the night session. Please don't forget to bring your current titles with you so we can alternate the titles between the 2 groups.
Some of our upcoming titles we will be reading are the classic Persuasion by Jane Austen and Exile by bestselling author Richard North Patterson.
Don't forget that all meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month in the meeting room of the library. Look forward to seeing you there.

Second book club

Here at Campbelltown we are about to start a second book club. This book club will be meeting on the same day as our night group but it will be in the morning from 10:30-11:30am. They will be meeting in the library.

We still have some vacancies for the day group so if you would like to join please contact the library.

We are also looking for a name for the book club so if you have a suggestion please add a comment to this post.

We are also accepting suggestions for what the club will be reading until the end of the year.

Book club returns

Our book club returns this month after a break and will be discussing Jodi Picoult's Mercy.

In the upcoming months these are the books they will be discussing.

March 26th The Reader by Bernard Schlink
April 30th The Road by Cormac McCarthy
May 28th Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones
June 25th Cheerio Tom Dick and Harry by Ruth Wajynrb

Titles for the remainder of 2008 have not been selected yet.

Campbelltown Library is also running a "Talking Heads" author program this year and will be hosting a range of authors.

In March we will be hosting Liz Byrski and in April Shady Cosgrove.
