Greetings and hello once again Book Clubbers,

For the penultimate meeting of the year on the 25th of November the day group (10.30am - 11.30am) will be discussing The Great Gatsby and the night group (6.30pm - 7.30pm) The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Both groups will be in the library meeting room this month.

Don't forget the last get together of the year will be on the 16th of December. This will be a joint get together of both groups and light refreshments will be provided on the night.

Hello Readers,
Welcome back to the September edition of The Book Club Blog.
The next meeting of The Book Club will be held on the 30th of September 10.30am for morning and 6.30pm for evening groups.

Next month is American Literature month in the Book Club. At this stage the day group will be reading Tom Sawyer by MarkTwain but this could change because of supplier problems , I will let you know on the night of the meeting. The day group will be reading The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitgerald. For information on the authors and title please click on the link above.

With the end of the year now fast approaching, the 16th of December, 6.30 pm, will be the date and time of our last meeting for the year. This is a joint meeting between the day and night group and gives both groups a chance to meet and talk about their favourite books for the year. So clear your calendar and come along.

Also from now until the resumption of The Book Club next year Carolyn and myself will be taking suggestions as to some of the titles which you would like to read next year. This month sees the day group reading Kiran Desais' the Inheritance of Loss and the night group The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga.
The groups have been very well attended in the last couple of months with the night group having no vacancies and just a couple left in the day group.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 26th August 10.30am and 6.30pm.
Also don't forget our last meeting for the year in December is a group one with no set book to read just bring along a title you would like to discuss or bring to the attention of other readers.

Hello Book Clubbers



This months titles by Val McDermid and James Lee Burke seem to be have been well liked by the majority of readers (Hooray!!) and we have had quite a few enquiries for other titles by these two authors, we have a wide selection to choose from but I would suggest you get in quick.



Our next two titles for August/September will be the Booker Prize winning Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai (day group) and another Booker Prize Winner The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga (night group) if you would like some info on any of these two authors click here for Kiran Desai and here for Aravind Adiga.

I would also like to remind people if they could return their read titles back promptly each month as we do have other people waiting to read these titlles, thanks.

Hello and Welcome. The April Book club meeting will be held on the 29th of this month. As you may have noticed we have had to re-jig the genres around this Month due to supply difficulties but we should be back to normal by June.
This month the day group are doing Dear Fatty by Dawn French and the night group are doing Gone by Margaret Wilcox.
The next genre we will be doing is Crime and those titles will be In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead by James Lee Burke and A Darker Domain by Val McDermid.

Carolyn and Myself would like to wish all Book Club Members a Happy Easter and we will see you back on the 29th of April.

Hello and welcome, especially to everyone who attended the first Book Club sessions for the year. Both day and evening sessions were well attended, with quite a few newcomers in attendance particularly for the day session. I hope everyone had an enjoyable time.

The next meeting will be on the 25th of March at 10.30 and 6.30 respectively. Some upcoming titles we will be reading in the future are In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead by James Lee Burke, A Darker domain by Val McDermid, Dawn French's autobiography and Gone by Margaret Wilcox. February Book Club

Welcome back everyone for a new year with the book club. The last meeting for 2008 was a great success with plenty of good food and lively discussion had by all.(photo on the left).

This year we will be starting back up on the 25th February. Same times as usual 10.30am -11.30am for the morning group and 6.30pm - 7.30pm for the evening.

The titles for this month are now available to be collected so the next time you are in the library just ask at the circulation desk and one of our friendly staff will be happy to get your title for this month, which are for the morning group The Lost Dog by Michelle de Kretser and for the evening The Spare Room by Helen Garner.
